One of the most sought after private clubhouse in Los Angeles. Does this high end dining, Academy of Magical Arts and entertainment live it to it’s hype? Let us explore this ultra exclusive private club which can only be experienced through invitation.

What’s the Magic Castle? This private clubhouse located in near Hollywood is a super private club where Master magicians perform different acts from sleight of hands, card tricks, and making objects disappear and reappear.

Is it really true what they say? The Magic Castle being a exclusive clubhouse. Getting in is only through an invitation?  This is absolutely true and getting the opportunity to experience this Castle is no easy task.

How do you get in invitation? There are only 3 ways a person is able to be invited to experience this Academy of Magical arts. I’ll break it down and explain the three tiers as anything other then tier three will be utterly expensive for the experience.

Tier 1

The first way, but also the most expensive in getting into the Magic Castle is book and stay at the Magic Castle Hotel. Located right next to Magic Castle. As a guest of the hotel they will put you on the guest list for Magic Castle.

Staying at the hotel your looking at a minimum of $200.00 per night

Tier 2

The second way is probably by a process of luck and is done by e-mailing one of the performing Magicians and be placed on their guest list. The Magician will then e-mail you back some  code which will allow you to have the ability to make a reservation at Magic Castle.

Tier 3

The third and best way of experiencing Magic Castle is knowing a member personally, or through a friend or family.

The Magic Castle member will most likely be able to help waive the door fees and requirements to dine at Magic Castle

Premium cost

Being exclusive and a private club. Expect to pay premium prices for this experience if you are fortunate enough to be invited.

Since Magic Castle is located near Hollywood. The parking in itself can be difficult to find. Magic Castle does not have self parking so the only way you will be able to park on their property is valet which cost $15.00. Other wise there are parking structure nearby at a rate of $17.00.

For tier 1 and 2 you will need to fare the cover charge prior to entry of your reservation. Making a reservation is mandatory so depending on how busy they are with reservations sometimes the time and date you wanted to attend may not be available.

On the weekday the cover charge is $25.00 per person and $35.00 on the weekend. All guest who are tier 3 won’t be required to pay the cover charge.

Outside Magic Castle

Strict dress code

Planning on wearing a comfortable shirt and jeans? Not if your planning on getting into this exclusive club as Magic Castle enforces a strict dress code. Those who do not meet their dress requirements will not be allowed into the club.

It seems everyone who attended took this requirement serious as all the men were in suits and the ladies in cocktail dresses.

Dining at the Magic Castle

If you are invited as a tier 1 and tier 2 guest then dining at Magic Castle will be mandatory. Being a exclusive club expect entrees to be in the $40.00-$50.00 range. Considering if your ordering a alcoholic beverage and a appetizer. Expect to spend $80.00 for the dining experience.

As a tier 3 guest. The dining experience can be skipped. If you want to order food inside magic castle they have some bar food which can be order at the bars.

The experience at the Academy of Magic Arts

Now that we have a understanding of how to be invited and the different tiers of being a guest. It’s time to see if the experience is all its cut out to be. For those of you who are wondering. What tier of a guest were you?  I personally was invited in as a tier 3 as a associate member of Magic Castle brought us in.

That meant we were waived of the cover door charge and were not required to do the mandatory dining. The member escorted us in directly to the castle lobby. At this point take your last few image shots as beyond the lobby.

You will not be allowed to take any forms of photography. If you are caught doing so you may be asked to leave.

Magic Castle lobby

At this point, if your a guest in tier 1 and tier 2. You will be escorted by a staff to your reservation table. For tier 3, the Castle member will most likely become your host and personal escort around the Castle.

Since we were not required to do the dining. We went inside through a hidden doorway as seen behind the bookshelf. Again once you pass through at this point camera and photography will not be allowed.

While waiting for the magic shows our host escorted us to a lobby room where we sat order drinks and food from the bar.

Master Magicians

At Magic Castle, each week features a new Magician so everyone’s experience will be different. Depending on which Magician is performing, the concept should all be the same.

Each Magician has different performance times so get yourself a show schedule or if you are a tier 3 guest. The host member should escort you around and ensure you experience all the performances.

Throughout the castle, there were so many different rooms and each section had a magician performing. These rooms were known as the Close up Gallery. Here Magicians perform sleight of hand tricks with playing cards.

2 guest from the audience will be selected to sit at the same table with the magician as he does fancy card tricks that are inches away.

The Palace of Mystery

The Palace of Mystery is the main stage and attraction most guest will experience. Guest who are Tier 1 and Tier 2 after ding will be given a ticket which allows them to attend the theater.

This is the main stage as for this experience we had three Magic magicians who performed different acts from making objects disappear and reappear, to having random things multiply.

Most people I’m sure have seen Magic performances such as America’s got talent or the magic show Penn & Teller. These acts are exactly like those except watching it in person on a stage is a completely different experience.
