What’s happening explorers? it’s hard to imagine it’s already winter for 2k19. Those who follow my blog know I’m personally from California, Los Angeles. I know what your thinking. Los Angeles is a city with boring weathers. why bother visiting?
While Los Angeles doesn’t have snow like some of the other states. California does have certain destinations where visitors may experience snow during the winter seasons. In no particular order.
1. Big Bear Lake
One of my favorite things about the drive to Big bear is the narrow snow roads over looking the mountains. The higher you drive up the mountains the beautiful it gets. Not the mention the more dangerous it gets and somewhat fun if you have the proper vehicle.
What do I mean? I drive a awd (All wheel drive) turbo charged manual vehicle. Any driver enthusiast will understand how awesome it is to drive one on a curvy road overlooking the mountains.
Thank goodness for the road rails as any driver unfortunately to drive off the road your looking at probably a thousand feet of plummet off the mountains. Ouch! As always drive safe if you decide to visit Big bear during the snow season.
Arrival
Arriving at Big Bear resort, is a sign of relief as you finally made it after driving on swirls of mountains that seems to never end. Most likely during the winter season parking will be difficult to find. At least not at the main parking.
Just follow the signs and guidance and eventually you should be able to find parking nearby. Every parking destination has a tram escort which will pick up visitor and transport them to the Big Bear resort. So, stop winning because you have to walk far.
Lessons
Depending how crazy you plan to get here, the price range if you come here without any equipment range $20 to $46, which isn’t too bad. Realistically, if your visiting Big Bear you should all ready be expected to be in snow winter attire.
Are you nuts?
No matter how much you try to prepare. The first time is exciting yet scary at the same time. Be prepared to eat snow or wipe out. That’s when you loose your balance and fall face first into the snow.
After a few wipe outs, it should become a normal experience. The more you slide down the easier it becomes until you master snow boarding.
Laybacks Bar
Okay fine, I’ll admit I was guilty of ordering an large IPA. The best part is your allowed to take your alcoholic beverage anyway around the perimeter and hang out after skiing or snowboarding. So take off your equipment, have a drink, take a breather, and most of all enjoy the beautiful scenery.
2. Yosemite National Park
Those of you who enjoy hikes, sight see, and nature during the winter season will not be disappointed visiting Yosemite park. Some of the main attractions while visiting Yosemite is the Chilnualna falls and Yosemite falls.
These two summit waterfalls are not only beautiful to look at. Great for photography, it also brings a sense of tranquility as you listen to the water fall.
Which of these two winter wonderland locations did you like the most? share your comments below.
